New Stuff

Been making lots of new stuff for Etsy.  I love making it but getting it photographed and in the shop is my challenge.  So we have been playing around with making some notecards and embellies. My 12 year old daughter has added some items to the shop and sold several of them!  We have found some awesome customers-Thank YOU.  Hope you enjoy!

Rainy Day

Sitting here listening to the rain and wishing I could stay in pajamas and scrapbook all day but instead we are going to a animae convention in downtown Portland.  My girls so excited about it so that makes me excited.  They are dressing up as characters...much anticipation about the photo possibilities.  We have been excited to add some new stuff to the Etsy store and get a few customers...thank YOU!  My daughters are adding some stuff to the store too! I love watching kids create, no worries about if it will sell or if others will like it...just create what is in your heart.  This makes me happy.  Here is a new layout I just posted on Etsy and I have some AMAZING beach tags I am working that I will be posting soon.  I am such a lousy blogger but this is on my I can do better list so I will try to post more often.  Enjoy the day and be sure to take lots of photos!

At the ZOO

This is a new ZOO layout...love it!  So fun to add the pattern paper for a splash of color.  Easy to do with any floral and striped papers.  Of course, the diecuts are for sale at A Joy Forever...the best scrapbook store ever!  There is also a full size sample of this layout in the Milwaukie store. enjoy!

It has been a long time!

So I haven't posted anything here in a very long time.  I have been trying to decide if a blog will work over a website.  When we bought a MAC I was unable to use the site builder software with my website host...bummer!  I need a place to post layouts using my designs so the awesome people buying my work have a place to look at the samples.  I have been making some pretty cool stuff lately, a new look if you will.  I absolutely LOVE the design process.  Creating something new, getting it out of my head and onto paper, is pure bliss!  I am blessed with so many options for creating.   Space has been a major factor and I am super excited that my studio is getting a makeover SOON.

I will take some photos of my latest collections and post them soon.  Happy Mother's Day!!!

What is your approach?

I just spent a lovely day scrapping with one of my best friends, Becky.  I love her approach to her pages, she is a planner.   I love the way she lays things out and moves them around a million times, very much like I do.  We both fight and at times embrace perfectionism.  We go to great lengths to correct things that nobody else would even notice.  All possible options must be explored before final placement is decided.  It is a beautiful thing to watch my friend scrapbook and see her memories come alive on her lovely pages.  What is your approach?

I am hoping to scrapbook with another of my best friends later this week (gotta love vacation).  Her approach is entirely different...can you say speed scrap?  She is amazingly quick but also creates the most wonderful pages for all three of her children.  Yes, she does three sets of pages for each family event...she has to be fast.

My approach is pretty methodical....I start with my photos.  I lay them out on my large cutting mat and rearrange until I find the right number of photos that fit with some sense of balance.  I like to use as many photos as possible to tell the story.  Next, I pick back ground paper, followed by matting paper, then mat all my photos.  Now, I rearrange again and start adding page elements and titles.  Once all that is in place I am either done or move on to embellishments.  Finally, I adhere it all to the page.  I hate this part.  I can have a page all done and leave it sitting for days just waiting or adhesive.

I love scrapping with friends...good stuff!!
